The Koninklijke Nederlandse Brandweer Vereniging (KNVB, Royal Netherlands Firefighters Soviety, instituted 1916) changed the medal for faithfull service into a cross in 1952. In 1967 the Cross was changed when the KNBV and the NVBC merged.
Three types of cross exist:
- Bronze for 25 years of service
- Silver for 30 years of service
- Gold (plated silver) for 35 years of service
On the ribbon a clasp could be worn for 40 years of service
Obverse: A cross topped by a crown. The medal has red enameled arms. In the centre the letters KNB intertwined. Reverse: Flat. Diameter: 40mm, 60mm top to bottom. Material: bronze
