At the end of the second world war a group of 350 were taken prisoner by the Japanese. They were imprisoned in the "Glodok" prison. During captivity 77 of them died. When in 1981 the Resistance Commemorative Cross was instituted they were not eligible to recieve the cross.
The former prisoners designed a private decoration. During a reunion in 1986 all living ex-prisoners received the cross.
